WASHINGTON -- Kathy Griffin headlined a rally Thursday at Freedom Plaza in Washington, calling for a repeal of the military's ''Don't Ask, Don't Tell'' (DADT) policy.

Griffin, a two-time Emmy winner for her Bravo television show "My Life on the D-List," spoke at the Human Rights Campaign's ''Repeal 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Now'' rally, which capped a week of lobbying against DADT on Capitol Hill.

In the two videos below, Griffin tells about meeting several gay-supportive members of Congress, including Rep. Barney Frank and Rep. Jared Polis, and also about her run-ins with Rep. Michelle Bachman, Rep. Eric Cantor and Sen. Scott Brown. She then relays her experiences attending a hearing on DADT by the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Look for an inspirational moment from Lt. Dan Choi, who Griffin invited on stage to say a few words. Choi was booted out of the military for being gay. After the rally, Choi and two other activists were arrested at the White House after chaining themselves to a fence in an act of non-violent civil disobedience to demand the end of DADT.

Here is Griffin's speech in its entirety. Watch for an extended version of the day's events including interviews from the rally's attendees later
