San Diego Pride to host volunteer information session to share year-round opportunities

SAN DIEGO -- Those looking to get involved with San Diego Pride's year-round volunteer programs are encouraged to attend an information session on Saturday, Feb. 11.

San Diego Pride, which produces the annual San Diego LGBT Pride Parade and Festival, has a host of volunteer opportunities available year-round in a number of different areas. Not only does the organization need assistance organizing its annual signature events, but it participates in numerous civic engagement and human rights projects throughout the year.

Prospective volunteers who attend the information session will learn about the more 30 different projects and programs that are available.

"Your options are as endless as your lifestyle options," said Cheli Mohamed, Pride's Volunteer and Community Resources Director. "From weekly commitments to monthly options, to just once-a-year volunteer opportunities – San Diego LGBT Pride is the place to volunteer."

Programs and projects include:

· Civil rights and social justice programs

· Education and outreach efforts

· Supervised internships

· Signature annual events

· Civic engagement

· Emerging Prides

· Marching in parades

The volunteer information session will begin at 10 am on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the San Diego LGBT Pride Office, 3620 30th St. in North Park. To confirm attendance and save a spot, email Mohamed at Cheli@sdpride.org.
