STANFORD, Calif. -- La Familia de Stanford will host a conference aimed at LGBTQ-identified Latino/as at Stanford University on Saturday, April 21.
The conference will stimulate discussion with regard to the intersection of LGBTQ/latino/a identity, will address challenges specific to this demographic, and will explore and celebrate modes of expressing this identity through activism, performance and writing, literature and theory, and health and relationships.
The daylong event will include a keynote presentation by artist Adelina Anthony; workshop sessions; lunch; and networking.
Anthony is a critically acclaimed and award winning Xicana lesbian multi-disciplinary artist, hailing originally from San Antonio. The themes in her works address colonization, feminism, trauma, memory, gender, race/ethnicity, sexuality, in/migration, health, land/environment, and issues generally affecting the LGBT/two-spirited communities.
La Familia de Standord is a support and activism group at Stanford University for LGBT and questioning Latina/os.
Registration is free and the conference is open to youth aged 15 and over.
