SAN DIEGO -- Being Alive HIV/AIDS Services will conduct free HIV testing on Tuesdays at its Hillcrest office.
To sweeten the deal, the organization has teamed up with BabyCakes to offer an incentive for those who take advantage of the free testing offer.
Free HIV tests will be given on Tuesdays from 10 am to 2 pm. While appointments are preferred, walk-ins will be accepted as time allows. Those who with to make an appointment should call Being Alive at 619-291-1400.
As an added bonus, Being Alive will offer "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" cupcake coupons from Babycakes, a popular cupcake and cocktail bar in Hillcrest
Christopher Stavros, owner of Babycakes, said his company is pleased to support Being Alive's efforts.
“We are pleased to team up with Being Alive and offer an incentive for people to get tested to know there status,” Stavros said.
Shannon Wagner, executive director of Being Alive, said that her organized is glad that it is able to provide the free testing service.
“We are pleased to begin HIV testing here at Being Alive," Wagner said. "It is done in a safe and non-clinical setting. If you or someone else has been putting off the test, consider making an appointment today. Take care of yourself and those you love."
Being Alive San Diego’s mission is to deliver quality and compassionate services to people affected by HIV/AIDS and to provide education to those in need. Being Alive was formed by six HIV+ individuals in 1989 to address the need for “peer driven” support and services. Today Being Alive is the longest running AIDS service organization in San Diego, serving more that 10,000 individuals every year.
