PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- The National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) will host its annual Dinah Weekend celebration on Saturday, April 5 from 5-7 PM in Palm Springs, honoring the progress that has been made in the movement for LGBT equality.
Event organizers say that this year’s event is "shaping up to be the best yet" with more than 200 people from across the country expected to participate. Special guests scheduled to attend include actor and producer Meredith Baxter of “Family Ties” fame, author and professional football player Chris Kluwe, and comedian Fortune Feimster, known for her appearances on the “Chelsea Lately” show.
NCLR executive director Kate Kendell and NCLR senior legislative and policy strategist Geoff Kors will provide an update on NCLR’s groundbreaking legal work, including its lawsuits to secure the freedom to marry in Utah, Idaho, Florida, Tennessee and Wyoming, and its work to protect young LGBT people in states across the country from the dangers of so-called “reparative therapy.”
“This is an amazing opportunity for the LGBT community and our allies to come together and celebrate our successes and raise awareness and resources to make the most of this moment in history,” said Kors, who resides in Palm Springs. “Having won the case that brought marriage to California in 2008, NCLR is now focused on winning marriage nationwide and ending discrimination against LGBT people everywhere.”
Founded in 1977, NCLR is a national legal organization committed to advancing the human and civil rights of theLGBT community through litigation, public policy advocacy, and public education.
The event will be held at Kors’ home. Learn more about the event and get tickets HERE.
