Transgender superstar and activist Laverne Cox is calling for a “state of emergency.”
The actress, famous for her role in “Orange is the New Black,” told Good Morning America that, “We in the transgender community right now, are reeling.”
She went on to say that there are many things that may cause transphobia, and ultimately the violence against transgender men and women.
"Your life should not be in danger simply for being who you are. I think the reasons why trans women experience so much violence has to do with employment, housing, health care, etc., so we need to make sure that trans lives matter.”
It is estimated that sixteen trans people have now been murdered in 2015, that includes the 3 reported only last week.
