SAN DIEGO -- The state of the economy has made it very difficult for the people of San Diego and we want to make sure our community is aware of the programs available to help them during this time.

Thousands of families in San Diego qualify for discounts on their utility bills and assistance with access to fresh and healthy foods.

Councilmember Marti Emerald - in partnership with SDGE, AT&T, 2-1-1 San Diego and the San Diego Food Bank - will provide information on various programs and their qualification guidelines from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, March 19.

The event will take place at the Colina del Sol Recreation Center, 5319 Orange Ave., San Diego.
