Turns out 2012 was a whale of a year for LGBT Americans:
Already, 2013 is shaping up to be historical in context for the LGBT community.
This week, Illinois and Rhode Island lawmakers are taking up marriage equality. I previewed upcoming action on same-sex marriage in this cover story: Dreaming big: Gay guide to the state of marriage equality in the U.S.
The justices will rule by the end of June on the two cases, crucial decisions that could legalize marriage equality nationwide or ban it universally, or find a solution that would be far less controversial.
Needless to say, LGBT Americans are eager to see how all this plays out.
