San Diego – Continuing his commitment to creating opportunities for all San Diegans and delivering results for every neighborhood, Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer will be sworn in for a second term as San Diego’s 36th mayor on Monday at an inauguration ceremony to be held at the historic Balboa Theatre.

Mayor Faulconer assumed office in March 2014 on a platform of bringing San Diego together and restoring integrity to City Hall.

He won reelection in June 2016.

Mayor Faulconer has overseen major investments in infrastructure repair and neighborhood services, and pushed for more focus on San Diego's underserved communities.

First term highlights include doubling the miles of roads repaired annually; strengthening City finances and implementing voter-approved pension reform; increasing library and recreation center hours to their highest levels in a decade; launching programs to grow San Diego's skilled workforce and help locals compete for good-paying jobs in the innovation economy; putting in place a landmark Climate Action Plan to protect the environment; and fulfilling a pledge of directing 50 percent of major revenue growth to neighborhoods and infrastructure.

Five members of the 71st San Diego City Council – including three new Councilmembers – and City Attorney-elect will also take the oath of office.

Mayor Faulconer will be sworn in at 10 am at the Balboa Theatre on Monday, December 12.

The Balboa Theatre is located at 868 Fourth Avenue San Diego, 92101
