Constructed in 1914, the Georgia Street Bridge and the adjacent retaining walls are designated as a historic landmark.

This project will provide required seismic retrofitting and rehabilitation of the bridge and retaining walls. For more information about this project, visit the project web page.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

Overnight on Monday, Dec. 19 or Tuesday, Dec. 20, construction crews will temporarily close all roadway lanes on University Avenue between Park Boulevard and Florida Street.

This closure is necessary for work on the north retaining wall.

Traffic detour signs will direct drivers to alternate routes.

There could be traffic delays as a result of this temporary road closure.

The morning after the road closure, two lanes will be opened to traffic - one in each direction - in a new configuration on the south side of University Avenue.

Sidewalk access will be maintained on both the north and south ramp sides of University Avenue.

In the case of inclement weather, this closure could be delayed.

As the project progresses we will continue to keep you updated and respond to inquiries. Thank you for your patience while this historic bridge is seismically retrofitted.
