Trash, recyclable and yard waste collection services will be delayed by one day.
SAN DIEGO – The City of San Diego will be observing the Christmas holiday on Monday, Dec. 26 and the New Year holiday on Monday, Jan. 2.
As a result, trash, recyclable and yard waste collection services will be delayed by one day.
There will be no collection of City of San Diego trash, recyclables or yard waste on the following City-observed holidays: Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2
Monday’s trash, recyclables and yard waste will be collected on Tuesday and services will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week (for example, Tuesday's trash will be picked up Wednesday, etc., and Friday's trash will be collected on Saturday).
Residential customers are reminded that trash, recyclables, and yard waste must be set out at the curb or alleyway by 6 a.m. to ensure pick up.
Customers are encouraged to recycle or re-use their Christmas wrapping paper and their Christmas tree.
To recycle your Christmas tree, residents with yard waste collection service should:
For residents with Automated Greenery collection (large, green 96-gallon wheeled containers) the tree must be cut and placed inside the container to be serviced by the automated collection vehicle.
For residents receiving manual greenery collection, trees must be cut into pieces not exceeding four feet in length and placed at the curb.
For residents without greenery collection, please visit the City’s website at www.recyclingworks.com for a list of Christmas tree recycling sites near you.
Please call 858-694-7000 or email [email protected] with any questions about the holiday pick-up schedule.
