Mix and mingle during a festive happy hour with a diverse group of LGBT and allied business professionals, community leaders, E.R.G.’s (Employee Resource Groups), and organizations at the Second Annual Pride Business Mixer on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Rich’s San Diego (1051 University Avenue-Hillcrest).

The annual event – always held the Thursday before Pride - serves as the official business community kick-off to San Diego Pride. Proceeds from the event will benefit the programs and services of the Southern California Equality Business Alliance, including the San Diego LGBT Visitors Center, and its new initiatives- the LGBT Legacy Walk and Traveling Wall Exhibit, and the Equality Business Directory.

Organizers will also announce a matching donation challenge from Stoli Group to help fund those initiatives. That donation will match all membership gifts to the Equality Business Alliance, dollar-for-dollar- up to $10,000. The matching challenge begins July 12, 2018, and runs until October 31, 2018.

The mega-mixer is San Diego's largest LGBT themed mixer of the year. Tickets are $20 pre-sale and $25 day-of and include a complimentary Stoli cocktail and light appetizers. Tickets may be purchased at the door, or by clicking HERE.

“San Diego is a rich and diverse community that is buoyed by it’s LGBT and allied businesses," said Eddie Reynoso, Founder, Equality Business Alliance, San Diego LGBT Visitors Center. “San Diego is a rich and diverse community that is buoyed by it’s LGBT and allied businesses.  By working together, as the strongest LGBT+ and allied business coalition in Southern California, we highlight our region as the premier place to growing and starting a business, entrepreneurial innovation, and promotion our region as a thriving and vibrant travel and tourism destination.  Now more than ever- this mixer provides a unified voice for the San Diego business community on the clear economic and business case for the equal treatment of the LGBT community. “

Organizers for the Pride Business Mixer know that an economically vibrant and welcoming community towards everyone, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people can have an impact on business, local, and state competitiveness for talent, entrepreneurship, corporate relocation, and tourism.

A 27-page report by San Diego State’s Center for Hospitality and Tourism Research, reveals that thousands of visitors spend millions of dollars in San Diego each year during Pride. Some highlights from the report include:

  • San Diego Pride creates an economic impact of nearly $11million.
  • $5.7 million of that $11M is “direct” spending at hotels, restaurants, and shops. $2 million of that on food and beverages, just under $2 million in spending on lodging, and about $850,000 each on shopping and entertainment.
  • $5.3 million of that $11M is “indirect” spending which includes additional business generation in the local area resulting from the events, such as preparation for the events, ad spending by additional employees hired for the festivities around town.
  •  San Diego Pride attracts nearly 2,000 international visitors.
  • Over 19,500 people visit from outside San Diego.
  • More than 48 percent of visitors to San Diego stayed in a hotel during their visit for an average of 2.5 room nights at $170 per night.
  • An estimated 10,900 spectator hotel room nights were sold during San Diego Pride Pride.
  • 34 percent of visitors report an annual income of more than $75,000.
  • Visitors also visit Sea World, the San Diego Zoo and other local attractions, spending an average of $561 each on their stay.

“One of the elements of my job that is most fulfilling is the opportunity to connect exceptional people doing great things for our communities," said Patrik Gallinueax, International LGBT Brand Ambassador, and Manager, Stoli Group. "Since 2013 Stoli Group has been a proud supporter of the Legacy Project Chicago, one of the most important LGBT educational installations in the world, and co-founded by Victor Salvo. The great passion for positive activism of the San Diego community is evident in the work of the Equality Business Alliance and it’s San Diego LGBT Visitors Center, founded by Eddie Reynoso. And so it is with great joy that the opportunity to connect Victor with Eddie has resulted in San Diego’s very own Legacy Walk, and there is no better way to shout loudly and clearly Stoli’s ongoing support to raising the bar for both communities by pledging to underwrite the groundbreaking with this matching donation challenge.”

The Second Annual Pride Business Mixer is on Thursday, July 12, 2018, from 5:30 pm until 8 pm.
