It's that time of year again! Tantrums & Tiaras returns and this time it's  the battle of the All-Stars. It's all for a good cause though and Jinx Mirage is here to tell you all about that and other things going on the community this week.

Rainbow check becomes part of latest Burberry collection

Chief Executive Officer of Burberry, Christopher Baily is making a colorful exit as he leaves the fashion giant.

His final design will integrate a rainbow into the iconic check pattern for his last collection which will be revealed on February 17 at London Fashion Week.

Theater Review: “Bliss (or Emily Post is Dead)”

“Bliss (or Emily Post is Dead)” plays through February 25, 2018, at  Moxie Theatre, 6663 El Cajon Blvd. in the SDSU area.

Sometimes people mess up their own lives. Sometimes the culture, the time, and social norms do it for them.

In Jami Brandli’s “Bliss” set in 1960, before the civil rights and women’s rights movements got air under their wings, three women who feel like “indentured servants” are victims of Emily Post and the prevailing regressive attitudes about women.

In a college class (eons ago), I defined time as an artificial construct that allows us to keep events in order. I thought it a pretty good (if straight-ahead) definition, and so did the prof. 

But it took a poetic sensibility like playwright José Rivera to create “Cloud Tectonics,” a whole play about time, its deeper meanings and its effects on people and the universe.
