COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- A 15-year-old lesbian with cropped blond hair and a husky voice won Denmark’s “X Factor” on Saturday – singing her rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face.”
The teen, who goes by her first name of Sarah, beat two other finalists and earned a major record contract.
Sarah changed the pronouns from male to female in “Poker Face,” a noticeable difference from Gaga’s hit.
The final round played out in front of 40,000 people gathered at Parken Stadium, as well as an audience of millions of fans.
There was some concern before the show that Sarah would not perform. Local media reported that Danish voice experts had urged Sarah not to perform Saturday because she had been singing incorrectly and they feared she could cause long-term damage to her vocal cords.
