<h1> September 11 Tributes</h1>

SiriusXM’s LGBT channel OutQ (ch.108) will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks with <a href="http://outqnews.com/" target="_blank">LGBT Stories of 9/11</a> . Listeners across the country will share their personal reflections on loved ones lost and how 9/11 changed their lives; and Alice Hoagland, mother of openly gay hero Mark Bingham recounts her son’s final moments aboard Flight 93, and coming to terms with his homosexuality. The special report airs <b>Sunday, Sept. 11</b> at 9:00 am, 1:00 pm and 8:00 pm ET.

<b>Bach Collegium San Diego</b> will open its 9th season with <a href="http://www.bachcollegiumsd.org/web/events.aspx?date=9%2f16%2f2011" target="_blank">W.A. Mozart: Requiem in Memoriam 9/11</a> , an emotional tribute to memorialize the victims of the attacks. Concert takes place on <b>Friday, Sept. 16</b> at 7:30 pm at the <b>St. James by-the-Sea Episcopal Church</b>. <i>Cost: $20 -$40</i>.

On <b>Sunday, Sept. 11</b> join the <b>Operation Homefront Southern California</b> as they reflect on the lives lost on 9/11, and honor our veterans with <a href="http://www.operationhomefront.net/socal/events.aspx" target="_blank">Freedom Walk 2011</a> at the De Anza Cove in Mission Bay. The walk is part of a nationwide effort where communities walk 5k as a commitment to never forget the lives lost. A ceremony takes place at 9 am, followed by the walk at 10 am. <i>Cost: Free</i>.

The <a href="http://www.ucuc.org/index.html" target="_blank">University City United Church</a> will inaugurate its new organ with a dedication concert for the victims of 9/11 on <b>Sunday, Sept. 11</b> at 4 p.m. The performance includes selections of selections of patriotic, classical, religious and secular music. <i>Cost: Free</i>.

The <a href="http://www.sdfirerescue.org/firefighter-support-san-diego/2011-first-res... target="_blank">San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation</a> will host a <b>9/11 Memorial Unveiling</b> at Fire Station 21 in Pacific Beach on <b>Friday, Sept. 9</b> at 10:30 a.m. The memorial includes two polished aluminum columns inscribed with the names of the all 343 emergency first responders who died in the terrorist attacks, and incorporates a piece of steel from the Twin Towers. The <b>San Diego Public Library</b> in downtown’s East Village will screen <b>“If a Tree Falls”</b>, a documentary that chronicles the acts of the Earth Liberation Front, a radical environmental group listed by the FBI as “America's number one domestic terrorist threat.” Screening begins at 6:30 pm on <b>Monday, Sept. 12</b>. <i>Cost: Free</i>.

The comedy line up features local LGBT comedians Sarah Burford and Sean Wherley, local allied comedian Chase Brockett, Los Angeles-based LGBT comic Erin Schauer and headliner Steve Hasley. <i>Cost: Free</i>.

On <b>Monday, Sept. 12</b> head over to <b>Bourbon Street Bar & Grill</b> for another <a href="https://www.facebook.com/livecomedylive" target="_blank">Live Comedy Live</a> comedy presentation with hosts Rajan Dharni and Christian Spicer. Comedian <b>Zoltan</b>, seen on Spike TV and the recent winner of Orange County’s Ultimate Laugh Down is the night’s headliner. <a href="http://www.brewhahaentertainment.com/index.html" target="_blank">Brew Ha Ha Comedy Entertainment</a> will once again feature the hilarious <b>Tony Calabrese</b> on <b>Saturday, Sept. 10</b> at 4590 Park Blvd. Show begins at 7 pm, but arrive early as seating is limited. <i>Cost: Donations welcome</i>.

Head down to the beach on <b>Saturday, Sept. 10</b> for the annual <a href="http://obmusicfest.org/" target="_blank">Ocean Beach Music and Art Festival</a> from 10 am to 7 pm. The festival features eight different stages, 23 bands, 80 fine artists and tons of jazz! Neighborhood restaurants and bars will also feature specials for festival ticket holders. <i>Cost: $30</i>.

<b>Friday, Sept. 9</b> is the 17th annual <a href="http://sdbeerfest.org/" target="_blank">San Diego Festival of Beers</a> featuring live music and over 70 different craft beer samples. Festival takes place downtown from 6 pm to 11 pm. Admission includes ten 4 oz tastings, plus food, wine and additional tastings will be available for purchase. <i>Cost: $40</i>.

On <b>Thursday, Sept. 8</b> sample cuisine from over 50 restaurants at the <a href="http://downtownsandiego.org/node/13" target="_blank">Taste of Downtown</a> from 5 to 9 pm. The self guided tour allows you to stroll through the streets at your own pace or hop on a shuttle to quickly navigate from one stop to the next. <i>Cost: $35</i>.

The <b>Hilton San Diego Bay Front Park</b> will host <a href="http://www.artwalkonthebay.org/" target="_blank">Art Walk on the Bay</a> on <b>Saturday, Sept. 10</b> and <b>Sunday, Sept. 11</b> from 10 to 5 pm. Enjoy the work of over 150 artists, live music, plus activities for kids. <i>Cost: Free</i>.

A special event for man's best friend takes place on <b>Sunday, Sept. 11</b> from 8 am to 3 pm at Del Mar. It is time for the <a href="http://www.animalcenter.org/events/surfdog/" target="_blank">Surf Dog Surf-a-thon</a> where owners and their pets participate in 20-minute heats based on the dog's weight class during Helen Woodward Animal Center fundraiser. Registration is closed, but it is <i>free</i> to support.
