Jim Winsor’s Out & About: Martinis Above Fourth reprises Charity Wreath Auction this Monday

This week Martinis Above Fourth owners Jim Simpson and Doru Tifui will once again be hosting one of the biggest community charity events of the year.

The ninth annual Charity Wreath Auction is a benefit for the Eddie Conlon Youth Fund, which provides school supplies, scholarships and housing for LGBT youth, some of whom have been turned away by their families.

It’s also a multi-day event. The deadline for wreath submissions (which are donated by individuals, businesses, and community organizations) will be this Friday, Nov. 30. On Saturday, Dec. 1, there will be a “Preview Party,” which means you can stop by Martinis at any time during business hours to get a good look at all the wreaths on display before they go up for auction.

Then on Monday, Dec. 3, doors open at 6:30 pm for the big auction, which will commence at about 7:30 pm. But this is more than an auction; it's also a really fun show.

Lady Ajax (Ruby Empress Ajax) is returning as auctioneer, and will be co-hosting along with the Center’s Ian Johnson. The wreaths will be paraded out for display by a team of super sexy shirtless Wreath Boys, who this year will consist of Jason Golumbfskie, Giulio Bart, JR Macabeats, Alex Paradalopez and Alonzo Munoz. Much merriment inevitably ensues!

Also there will be an impressively stocked silent auction as well. Admission this year will be a $10 “Charity Door” contribution. For an idea of what to expect, you can view photos from past Wreath Auctions HERE.

SDPIX presents Flight at 1202

Something's in the air at 1202 this Friday, as SDPIX presents Flight 1202. A special air travel themed party, the event includes soaring musical selections by DJ Marcel, mile-high go-go boys, special cockpit cocktails, and more. And maybe some go-go boy TSA screeners, to give pat downs upon entry? I could go for that!

Aviation or travel attire is encouraged, and there is no cover all night long. Departure time is scheduled for 10 pm.
