SAN DIEGO -- Fans of the San Diego Film Festival have embarked on an online fundraising venture with a goal of raising $75,000 for the nonprofit.
The fundraising effort is geared toward growing the festival and building attendance to more than 100,000 over the next four years, organizers said.
On Indiegogo, the campaign is titled: "San Diego Deserves A Top Ranked US Film Festival." Here is how it is described:
"The San Diego Film Foundation is a nonprofit organization that produces the San Diego Film Festival. Founded 11 years ago, the Festival has been successful, however, smaller towns of Santa Barbara, Palm Springs and Sundance have built much larger festival attendance and film industry presence. Six months ago we (Dale Strack, Kevin Leap, Tonya Mantooth, Patti Judd, and Steven Persitza) took over the Festival with the vision and mission of building it into a nationally recognized US festival that rivals Toronto, and to build attendance to 100,000+ over the next four years.
Donations range from $10 to $1,000 and each come with perks.
To date, the campaign has raised more than $4,000.
