DJ Tristan Jaxx says it's more important than ever to get out and have a good time.
DJ Tristan Jaxx always gets excited when it comes to the dance party “Overdrive,” but he has a special surprise at Saturday's event, he’s been teasing it all month.
Now in its third year, Jaxx says he’s grateful to the people who come out and support "Overdrive," and he’s looking forward to many more years to come.
“The positive, feel good vibe for everyone in attendance is the best thing about it,” he told SDGLN. “We love giving people a fun, stress free time to get away from their problems and enjoy diverse, high energy music with our community.”
“Overdrive” has something for everyone. The music catalog includes a variety of genres from tribal and EDM to, “a little trance here and there when I spin,” Jaxx said.
“I try to show the style of music you will be hearing from our DJ's each month by posting their podcasts/productions on the Facebook event page. The key element I look for in selecting our DJs is high energy. Expect that from all headliners,” he adds.
The event gets a production name-change from DJ Tristan Jaxx Productions to Happy Dark Productions, a switch the DJ says was intentional in order to focus more on what it represents and his cast of DJs, rather than him personally.
“It may be a late-night event but the vibe in the venue is still always uplifting and happy. Also, this was my way of including my partner Kaleb in the producer title," Jaxx says. "Essentially, he represents the happy and I represent the dark.”
He says the event is great way for people to get out from behind their electronic devices and away from the pressure of the daily grind. He feels that people are becoming less comfortable with in-person interactions. And with something like “Overdrive,” they can reconnect on a more personal level.
He adds that it’s more important than ever for the community to unite, and there is no better way to do that than through music.
“With so many in positions of power trying to reduce or eliminate our rights, it's crucial that we show true unity in our community and that's what the right music and vibe can promote,” said Jaxx.
As a people-person, the DJ says he enjoys seeing the regulars who have made “Overdrive” a success as well as those fresh faces coming in for the first time.
“For those willing to venture out, please come say hi. You can always at least count on a friendly smile and greeting from me and Kaleb. We want to make sure people always feel like home when at Overdrive.”
As for the special surprise planned for Saturday's event, Jaxx only hints at what people can expect, but he promises it will be spectacular.
“I don't want to spill the beans just yet," he says. "But suffice it to say that those who remember the peak of the good ol' Montage days will be very happy with the dramatic new effect we'll be debuting this weekend.”
