Rosie O’Donnell’s ex-wife Michelle Rounds has died by suicide reports TMZ, she was 46.

Sources tell TMZ that Rounds was at her home and died on Monday.

"I am saddened to hear about this terrible tragedy,” Rosie told the publication. “Mental illness is a very serious issue affecting many families. My thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle's family, her wife and their child."

Back in 2011, Rosie and Michelle began their courtship and were married in 2012. Seven months later they adopted their first child, Dakota who is now 4-years-old.

The couple separated in November 2014 and Rosie filed for divorce in February 2015. The divorce was finalized in March 2016.

Michelle’s mother posted a statement asking that people donate money to organizations which help individuals with mental health issues.

She stated in part, "... If anyone would like to give to the National Suicide Prevention it would also be greatly appreciated. There are so many out there in this world that have demons that they think suicide is the only way out ..."
