The star also married his longtime partner Stan Cadwallader in 2013.
Television comedy legend and singer Jim Nabors has died at the age of 87 according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Nabors is best known for his seemingly carefree approach to life in the classic shows such as "The Andy Griffith Show” and “Gomer Pyle: USMC.”
The actor also came out publicly in 2013 and married his longtime partner Stan Cadwallader that same year.
Nabors talks about why he was silent about his relationship for many years in an interview with the Hawaii News Now back in 2013:
“I'm 82 and he's in his 60s and so we've been together for 38 years and I'm not ashamed of people knowing, it's just that it was such a personal thing, I didn't tell anybody. I'm very happy that I've had a partner of 38 years and I feel very blessed. And, what can I tell you? I'm just very happy."
Nabors died Wednesday night at his home in Hawaii. He was born in 1930 and became a household name as the country mechanic Pyle in Andy Griffith in the 60’s and its spinoff.
He also had a great voice and released more than 20 albums during his career.
