Radford came out in 2014, the same year he won the silver in Russia.
History has been made in the world of sports this weekend. Out gay athlete, Eric Radford has won the gold medal for the team figure skating competition.
Radford is Canadian and along with skating partner Meagan Duhmel impressed the judges with their routine to the song “Hometown Glory” by Adele.
American skater Adam Rippon who is also gay took home the bronze for the U.S.A. in another Winter Olympics first.
Radford, 33, says he can hardly contain his pride in a tweet this morning.
“This is amazing! “I literally feel like I might explode with pride.”
In 2014 Radford came out and in that same year won the silver medal at the Winter Olympics in Russia.
Both Radford and Rippon aren't done performing yet. They each will perform another routine, Radford for the pairs tournament while Rippon in the men's singles event.
Rippon was a bundle of nerves after his performance this weekend: “I want to throw up. I want to go over to the judges and say, ‘Can I just have a Xanax and a quick drink? I’ll be fine.’ But I kept it together," he said.
