Olympian harnesses his red carpet look on Oscar night.
The fashion film Phantom Thread may have taken home the Best Costume Design during the 90th annual Academy Awards on Sunday night, but Olympian skater Adam Rippon could have just changed the fashion game.
While some men struggled to fit into their ill-fitting tuxedos and others looked dapper and well-put together, Rippon got noticed for his unique take on the white and black formalwear by adding a leather harness and bow tie.
Designed by the creative director of Moschino, Jeremy Scott, the accessory was the talk of social media including supermodel Tyra Banks who tweeted:
“Hoe, but make it fashion.” To which Adam tweeted back, “FASH-HOE-N. @tryrabanks you just get it.”
Adam introduced his look on Instagram on Sunday night in which he said "having a leather moment."
His followers were very impressed with his red carpet look:
"The fiercest fierce that ever fierced!" posted one. "Stand up for what YOU believe in, Adam," said another.
Rippon is fresh from his Bronze medal win in the Winter Olympics. That was groundbreaking in and of itself because it makes him the first openly gay U.S. athlete to take that honor.
