Who is your number one; are they a healthy example?

You may not have developed an eating disorder but you could definitely have some real negative relationships with food that you aren’t even aware of.

Who is your number one? Is it a material juggernaut or a spiritual one...a photoshopped cover model or someone truly body-positive?

It’s important to be realistic about what/whom we’re chasing and why

I’m a personal trainer so the pursuit of a healthier and/or a more aesthetic body is obviously something I’m on board with.

But just last night my good friend called to let me know he’s been bulimic the past four months because he was tired of the little jokes being made about his belly and felt like nothing else was working.

He’s a full grown man, not some teenager, and the desire to be thin outweighed the side effects of stomach problems and extreme lethargy he’s been having as result of this.

Weight loss at any cost gives a great window into our mindset and where we can direct our focus.

You may not have developed an eating disorder but you could definitely have some real negative relationships with food that you aren’t even aware of.

Like demonizing carbs and beating yourself up every time you want a sweet treat. These foods aren’t the devil and can be enjoyed with mindfulness.

Take control of your calorie intake in more moderated ways by logging what you eat through an app like MyFitnessPal

This way you can eat foods you like as long as you stay within your set ranges.

To start out don’t get too caught up in calories and macros. Use the app’s recommendations, set your protein to about .75 grams per pound of body weight (of the weight you’d like to be at within reason).

After you get the hang of this for about a month do some research on how to better set your calorie and macro ranges.

Better yet have them done for you by a trainer who understands flexible dieting like myself.

You are worth the bit of effort logging takes and the relief mentally of knowing you’re working in a healthy way towards your goals is monumental.
