Andrew Burnette, currently a member of the Minnesota Wild hockey team, dropped his player agent this week because of a recent firestorm surrounding anti-gay comments.
Todd Reynolds, vice president of Canadian firm Uptown Sports Management, was very vocal in early May of his disappointment with Sean Avery's support of gay marriage.
Reynolds reportedly tweeted "Very sad to read Sean Avery's misguided support of same-gender "marriage". Legal or not, it will always be wrong."
A huge backlash ensued against the head of the company that represents over a dozen professional hockey players and even more up-and-coming junior players.
According to SBNation.com Brunette said yesterday that he fired Reynold's Uptown Sports player agency specifically because of the controversy.
Brunette has since hired a new agent to help him with his upcoming free agency status.
