Our profile this week is of Ivan Solis Jr., founder and still very active member of the San Diego American Flag Football League (SDAFFL).
Solis was recently inducted into the National Gay Flag Football League (NGFFL) Hall of Fame, one of only three inductees chosen nationwide. It was only the second induction ceremony for the NGFFL.
Originally from San Francisco, Solis has been a resident of San Diego for 17 years.
He is currently single and makes his home in North Park.

What sports-related organization(s) do you play with or volunteer for, and why?
I play with the best flag football league in the country, the San Diego American Flag Football League.
It is a great group of guys that I can call my friends. We have similar interests, which is to raise awareness and help promote gay athletics.
Offense-Center, wide out/ Defense-corner, rusher
When is the primary season for that sport?
March -- June
What do you like best about that sport and/or that organization?
The incredible friendships and comradery among the players, and just my overall love of the sport. It also gives me the opportunity to meet long lasting friends.
What is your full-time career?
Lawyers Title -- Account Manager
What is something that many people do not know about you?
I played the Blue Power Ranger and Aladdin at Disney.
What do you like most about the local LGBT community and it’s support of sports programs?
I like that the LGBT community is so supportive of LGBT Sports, especially flag football and the awareness that they promote.
What would you like to see change in the LGBT community?
More opportunity and awareness for gay athletics, maybe like a sports fair?
What other sorts of things do you do to enrich your social life (aside from sports)?
I love to travel the world, cooking for friends, organizing events and getting involved in charitable organizations like Metro Area Real Estate Professionals for Young Adult Housing (MARYAH).
Where would you be right now if you could be anywhere?
Somewhere warmer like Hawaii or The Florida Keys.
What is your favorite outdoor location in San Diego?
Riding my bike on Coronado Island.
Anything exciting coming up with regards to your favorite sports?
The SDAFFL kicks off its 9th season very soon.
Clinics will be conducted on February 4 and Feb 11, with the season starting on March 3, 2012.
