Man to be sentenced for strangling friend

SAN DIEGO -- A man who pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the strangulation of a male friend was scheduled to be sentenced Monday in a downtown San Diego courtroom.

Jorge Luis Munoz, 24, faces 11 years in state prison when he is sentenced Monday in the May 28, 2009, death of 36-year-old Pedro Ramirez.

The defendant admitted strangling Ramirez in the bedroom of the victim’s Normal Heights apartment, saying the victim had become sexually aggressive. San Diego police said the two men spent several hours together before the slaying.
