SAN DIEGO -- In response to the racially offensive incidents that occurred on the UCSD campus last month, state assemblymembers, university officials, and student and community organizations will hold a forum to discuss “Addressing Intolerance in Higher Education.”

These incidents raised many questions about the campus climate, student safety, student misuse of state public resources and the low enrollment levels of African-Americans at the university.

Assemblymembers Lori Saldaña (D- San Diego), Nathan Fletcher (R- San Diego) and Isadore Hall III (D- Los Angeles) will be present at the event and help educate the public on the immediate steps and long-term commitments university officials and students have made to create a campus climate that supports and honors diversity.

The community forum will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at the Price Center Auditorium located on the UCSD campus, 9500 Gilman Drive.
