March 22 hearing set for Mississippi prom case

FULTON, Miss. – The federal lawsuit by the lesbian teenager who was told she couldn’t bring her girlfriend to the prom will be heard by a judge on March 22.

U.S. District Judge Glen H. Davidson will hear arguments in the case filed on behalf of Constance McMillen by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

The ACLU is seeking a preliminary injunction to stop the Itawamba County School District from canceling the prom scheduled for April 2 at the high school in Fulton.

The school district canceled the prom on the same day that the ACLU had asked the district to act on McMillen's request to bring her girlfriend to the prom and to dress in a tuxedo.
