SAN DIEGO -- The Square Shooters, a Women's C Division team in the America's Finest City Softball League (AFCSL), is having fundraiser this weekend to raise money for multiple causes.
The first cause is to raise money for local woman Christynn Holt, who has ovarian cancer.
The second is to raise money so the team can enter into the Sweet Madness tournament - this year themed "Homerun for Christynn" - to be held Memorial Day weekend in Escondido.
Proceeds from that tournament will also go to Christynn, who is currently waging her battle with no income. Square Shooters has taken up the cause this season by putting teal ribbons on their uniforms and vowing to play in the tournament since Christynn, a longtime member of the AFCSL, cannot.
Finally, the fundraiser is meant to bring attention to newly opened On Point Tattoo Shop, 1020 Grand Ave. in Pacific Beach.
On Point Tattoo owner Shane Ambort and fellow tattoo artist Nicole (Coco) Boyce, also a member of AFCSL, will be offering teal and pink ribbon tattoos for $30 to raise awareness to both ovarian and breast cancer and help Square Shooters help Christynn.
There will be four designs to choose from; a single ribbon of each color, one with the two ribbons intertwined, and a camouflage ribbon, created with both teal and pink to signify both causes.
The tattoos requiring both colors will be offered for $50.
Ambort was recently profiled in the Bay & Beach Press for having a non-traditional, homey setting rather than a standard tattoo shop environment.
In addition to the long day of tattoing, there will be a DJ spinning tunes and a BBQ, including hamburgers and/or hotdogs, chips and a soda or water for $2.00 a plate.
