Dockless bikes deemed a public nuisance in Coronado

Services such as LimeBike, Ofo, and Mobike have invaded San Diego neighborhoods for a few months now and Coronado says they’ve had enough.

You have probably seen the pictures on social media which show brightly colored dockless bicycles left abandoned on the sidewalk, heaped high in a mass of metal or just taking up public right-of-way in San Diego.

Leida Torres and Chrissy Slonaker Torres work at a Pennsylvania Walmart, in fact, that’s where they met three years ago. So when they decided to get married they could think of no better place than the gardening department at their job.

Senator Toni Atkins makes California history once again

The swearing-in ceremony will be held at 1 pm, Wednesday, March 21 in the Senate Chambers, State Capitol, Sacramento, Calif.

San Diego Sen. Toni Atkins (D-San Diego) is making history this Wednesday when she is sworn in as the California Senate’s 48th President pro Tempore, the first woman and first lesbian to hold the top seat in the Senate.

Senator Atkins is the second senator from San Diego County to serve as President pro Tem (Senator Jim Mills of Coronado served as pro Tem from 1970 to 1980).

Texas paper erases gay man's spouse on mom's obit citing "religious conviction"

A Texas newspaper has taken it upon itself to alter an obituary which mentions a gay man’s spouse because of the publisher’s religious reasons.

The couple, Barry Giles and John Gambill have been together for three decades. Giles mother passed away and as is customary he sent an obituary to the local paper.

TLC to headline San Diego LGBT Pride festival 2018

San Diego's Pride Festival will take place on July 14-15, 2018 in Balboa Park.

Four-time Grammy-winning group TLC has been booked to headline the San Diego Pride music festival, they will perform on Sunday, July 15, 2018.

"We are so looking forward to performing at San Diego Pride!” said Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins. “There is so much power in expressing yourself without fear. We hope all LGBTQ people will stand proud and be exactly who they are. Persist with Pride!”

The Center selects its next CEO

The Center selects Caroline (Cara) Dessert as its next Chief Executive Officer.

The San Diego LGBT Community Center (The Center) has selected their next Chief Executive Officer.

That role will go to longtime San Diego LGBT community member Caroline (Cara) Dessert who has been the organization’s Chief Development and Community Engagement Officer since 2016.
