Brians' American Eatery sets the record straight on re-opening rumors

SAN DIEGO -- While rumors have circulated around the community about the future of Brians' American Eatery, which abruptly closed on June 30 after more than 10 years in business, a Facebook post today confirmed that the popular restaurant will not re-open.

A sign outside of the closed diner currently reads "Closed For Remodel," prompting some to wonder if Brians' remaining owner at the time of closure would eventually re-open the restaurant.

The circumstances of the closure were unclear, but were reported as being due to a financial dispute between the co-owners, both named Brian.

Today's Facebook post reads: "So to put any rumors to rest: Brians' American Eatery on Washington will not be re-opening."

The post continues saying that a new restaurant called Lil B’s will open at 2611 El Cajon Blvd. in North Park, in the site of the former Johnny’s R Family Restaurant.

Plans are for the opening date to be set for the end of August or early September.

“So come visit Little Brian and your favorite staff members,” the post reads. “New Name. New Location. Same Great Staff. Same Great Food.”

SDGLN will report on additional details as they become available.
