Suspect ID'd in murder of transgender star of "Hollywood Houseboys"

FONTANA, Calif. – Late Thursday, police identified a suspect in the murder of “Hollywood House Boys” transgender star Domonique Newburn. They are also looking for a second man who may be on the run with the prime suspect.

Police identified Dantjier Powell, 18, of San Bernardino as the prime suspect in connection with the beating death of Newburn and said that he may be trying to flee the state with Jamie Nicole Cotton, 25, of Highland.

The two men may be trying to get out of California by bus, police said.

“There’s a possibility the suspect [Powell] and Newburn were involved in a relationship of some sort,” police spokesman Doug Imhof told the media. “We are not investigating this as a hate crime at this time.”

Powell stands about 5-8 and weighs about 150 pounds, according to police and witnesses.

Newburn’s show name is Domonique Duffy, and the producer of “Hollywood Houseboys” issued a statement after the murder:

"We are all deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic loss of our sister, Domonique Newburn. Domonique was an amazing person whose spirit transcended gender. When we set out to document our lives for reality television, we never once wished to make headlines like this. Our thoughts, prayers and condolences are with her family."

Anyone with information may call Fontana police at 909-356-8477. Anyone who may have spotted Powell outside Fontana should call 911, Imhof said.
