"Execute the homos" - Arizona pastor's solution to ridding world of AIDS

TEMPE, Arizona – A radical Christian pastor thinks the world could be cured of AIDS by Christmas if only nations followed the word of God.

Steven Anderson, the youthful pastor of the Faithful Word Baptist Church located in a strip mall in Tempe, blames “homos” for AIDS and says the Bible recommends they be stoned to death. That puts Anderson in the company of radical Islam imams and homophobic countries like Iran where gays can be stoned to death.

A video of Anderson’s disturbing sermon, made ahead of World AIDS Day on Dec. 1, was posted on YouTube under the title of “Christian Pastor's 'Biblical' FINAL SOLUTION to homosexuality...mass killings” by someone called “Evil Liberal Agenda.”

The self-proclaimed “Christian” pastor said “homos” are “filled with disease because of the judgment of God.”

He then has his congregation to search the Bible for a solution to AIDS.

“Turn to Leviticus 20:13, because I actually discovered the cure for AIDS, okay,” Anderson said. “Everybody is talking about an AIDS free world by 2020. We could have an AIDS free world by Christmas if we follow this.

“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.

“And that, my friend, is the cure for AIDS. It was right there in the Bible all along … and they’re out spending billions of dollars in research and testing. It’s curable, right there. Because if you executed the homos like God recommends, you wouldn’t have all this AIDS running rampant.”

Anderson has a long history of homophobic sermons and speeches that attack the LGBT community. Right Wing Watch has documented some of his remarks, along with the Truth Wins Out watchdog group. And the highly respected Southern Poverty Law Center has designated the church as an anti-gay hate group.
