San Diego Pride is getting the star treatment this year.

It has been announced that Kesha will headline the event which happens on the weekend of July 16 and 17, 2016.

Kesha stormed onto the scene of dance pop in the summer of 2010, with her hit “Tik Tok” going all the way to number one.

The 29-year-old also has written songs for some of pop's biggest stars including Britney Spears with "Till The World Ends."

She also just finished making a guest appearance at Coachella 2016, performing with Zedd on his EDM track "True Colors."

Kesha has always been a strong supporter of the LGBT community.

In fact her 2010 song "We R Who We R" was written by her specifically to address the rash of teen suicides due to bullying and harrassment.

Recently she has become concerned with her home state passing anti-LGBT legislation, something she says makes celebrating Pride even more important to her.

“I am beyond excited to perform at San Diego Pride this year," the singer said. "We have come a long way with the equal rights movement, but we have so much more work to do. In my home state of Tennessee they recently passed anti-LGBT legislation - it's another reminder that groups like Pride are so important, and I'm honored to be part of San Diego Prides event on July 16. I'll never stop fighting for people who just want to be able to express themselves freely for who they are. ”

San Diego’s Pride Music Festival will take place July 16-17, 2016 in Balboa Park, and will include 96 acts across a main stage, Latin stage, Hip Hop stage, and 80’s/90’s stage.
