Oklahoma State Sen., and Trump campaign chair, Ralph Shortey (R) is currently under investigation after being caught in a discount hotel with an underage boy.

Police are recommending that the Republican lawmaker be charged with multiple prostitution charges reports KOCO News.

“On March 9 … officers of the Moore Police Department were contacted in reference to a welfare check at a local hotel,” Lt. Kyle Dudley told NewsOK.com. “Responding officers found a juvenile male in a hotel room which was also occupied by an adult male. The circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation and no additional information can be released at this time.”

Raw Story and KOCO report that an employee at a Super 8 Hotel confirms a guest by the name of “Ralph Allen Shortey” checked in at 12:20 am, requesting two beds.

A half-hour later, police arrived on a tip to do a “welfare check,” but the origins of that call remain anonymous.

Charges and arrests have not been made, but an investigation into the text messages between Sen. Shortey and the minor are currently underway.

Shortey has been in office for seven years and married his high school sweetheart in 2002.

He supports the immigration and immigrant travel ban, and has been endorsed by several reactionaries for his views, including reality TV star Dogg the Bounty Hunter who held a rally for Shortey back in 2014.

“The Oklahoma Republican Party takes all accusations against elected officials seriously, especially when the welfare of a minor is involved,” Pam Pollard of the Oklahoma Republican Party said in a statement. “We have reached out to Senator Shortey for comment and have not heard back from him at this time. We await the report from law enforcement on whether charges will be filed.”
