A beloved friend and community member has died.

The San Diego LGBT community is suffering from grief as community member and friend to many, Michael Calles, 35, has been reported to have passed in his sleep on Friday night.
This news coming from his roommate and San Diego Gay and Lesbian (SDGLN) social reporter Jim Winsor.
Winsor talked to SDGLN while still trying to handle his grief and the many questions of the police and medical examiner.
“Right now both Kevin Gardner, our other roommate, and I are devastated,” wrote Winsor. “He was not in the best of health, was suffering from a persistent hacking cough, but regardless this is a shock.”
“The Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy as he was so young, and we have notified his family. I think they are on the way.”
Calles, affectionately known as “Giggles,” was a longtime bartender and trainer for Mo’s Universe and went on to win Tantrums and Tiara’s in 2014.
He was also the organizer for the Amazing High Heel Race, which raised money for The Hillcrest Rainbow Flag Project in 2012.
Calles was a San Diego native, going to both Mount Miguel and Monte Vista High schools.
He then went on to study psychology at Santa Barbara City College.
Very active in the community, Calles often represented Urban Mo’s in various fundraising competitions throughout San Diego and Palm Springs.
He once said that conjuring up unique cocktails was a personal passion.
Social media has been rocked by the news of his passing and several have posted thier shock and grief of Calles' death.
