For San Diegans who want more Comic-Con than just the once-a-year pilgrimage to the Convention Center will get permanent installation which celebrates one of the biggest tributes to pop culture in the world.

The Breitbart Hall of Fame on Pan American Plaza in Balboa Park will pack up their sports memorabilia and 153 inductee plaques and move to Petco Park, leaving the historic federal building ready to welcome a Comic-Con center.

Gayle Klusky, daughter of Hall of Fame founder Bob Breitbart is excited to relocate her father’s local sports legend homage to downtown.

"My father would be thrilled with this opportunity to move the Breitbart Hall of Fame to Petco Park to usher in the next phase of the Hall of Champions.”

The Hall of Fame will transition into the Western Supply Co. Building in Petco Park with construction of the dedicated space scheduled to be complete by the end of 2017.

The new Comic-Con International center, "will provide a year round interactive celebration of the innumerable aspects of popular art,” according to a spokesman.

For nearly forty years Comic-Con has been an annual part of the city’s landscape, first as a small get-together at the U.S. Grant Hotel downtown then becoming a 130,000 fan-strong event at the San Diego convention center every summer.

This new space will allow locals and tourists alike to enjoy the spirit of Comic-Con non-stop.
