Bright flash lights up San Diego and beyond

If you saw a bright light in the sky on Monday night, you weren’t alone.

The flash happened at about 8:45 pm and could be seen for miles.

The FAA says that many pilots also reported seeing the streaking fireball, although it is still unclear what exactly the mass was.

Jeff Speedy, a Nextdoor social app user, says it could be seen as far away as Arizona.  

“It looked like it was out over the ocean. Apparently it was a meteor. People from LA to Phoenix saw it. Pretty cool to see...”

The National Weather Station says it was most likely a meteor.
