Two male lions were caught in the “act” in Doncaster, England and the photos have all gone viral.

The photographer was visiting the Yorkshire Wildlife Park when he noticed one of the male cats mount the other in an apparent attempt at mating.

Perhaps in an “in front of my salad?” moment, a lioness was casually lying beside them as the activity continued.

“There are two males and a female in that pride. One of the lions suddenly got up, walked over and jumped on his friend's back,” Mr Bridges, from Rotherham in South Yorkshire, said.

“A fair few people were watching this going on and laughing - they were all commenting on what it looked like.”

Bridges noted that that in all fairness the lioness was swatting away the male every time he approached her.

“It's not really unusual for them to act that way sometimes. I don't know if it's a dominance thing or something like that - it looks as if they are aggressive, but it's all play between friends.”

According to Independent, Mr. Bridges has photographed lions before, but he admits never seeing this type of behavior.

“Usually they lay asleep doing nothing when I go to photograph them, but this time they were up and about.”

Bridges says his favorite shot is that of one of the beasts sticking his tongue out.

“I've never seen a shot of two males on top of one another with one sticking his tongue out before - it's like he's showing some pride in what he's doing.”
