The Butterfly Disco Pub patrons were sent falling into the building's basement.
Emergency crews helped people at a Tenerife disco on Saturday after the dancefloor collapsed beneath them.
There were 40 people reported injured when at about 2:30 am during a drag performance the ground gave way sending patrons into the basement.
The nightclub is located on the main strip popular with UK tourists. Tenerife is the largest Island on the Span’s Canary Islands.
New Now Next reports that the injured were visiting from all over Europe.
The rescue efforts took several hours and no deaths have been reported.
“Our main concern was making sure as many people as possible got out safely and after that I don’t know what happened inside,” said a spokesperson for the club. “I don’t want to start talking about what might have gone wrong before we speak properly to the police and lawyers and they are able to investigate what had happened.”
