Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore who vehemently opposes LGBT rights was fully endorsed by President Donald Trump on Monday.

Trump had apparently waited until the final hours to throw his support behind Moore because of recent sexual misconduct accusations concerning Moore.

“Democrats refusal to give even one vote for massive Tax Cuts is why we need Republican Roy Moore to win in Alabama,” Trump tweeted. “We need his vote on stopping crime, illegal immigration, Border Wall, Military, Pro Life, V.A., Judges 2nd Amendment and more. No to Jones, a Pelosi/Schumer Puppet!”

The president then went on to cast a pall over Moore’s opponent Doug Jones.

“Putting Pelosi/Schumer Liberal Puppet Jones into office in Alabama would hurt our great Republican Agenda of low on taxes, tough on crime, strong on military and borders…& so much more,” Trump tweeted.

Moore was very grateful for the president’s endorsement.

“Thankful for President Trump’s support. The America First agenda will #MAGA. Can’t wait to help him #DrainTheSwamp. #ALSEN” he tweeted.

In November The Washington Post ran with a story about Moore and his alleged pedophilia past. The report was based on interviews with over 30 people.

One woman came forward and claimed Moore had sexual contact with her when she was only 14. Another said she was sexually assaulted by him when she was 16. The legal age for consent in Alabama is 16.

Moore denies all of the accusations made against him.

Trump made a statement last month about Moore, implying that he believes he didn't do it.

“He denies it. Look, he denies it,” Trump said of Moore. “If you look at all the things that have happened over the last 48 hours. He totally denies it. He says it didn’t happen. And look, you have to look at him also.”

Moore is clear on his stance against the LGBT community.

“I think homosexuality should be illegal," he said in the past.

Moore has also appeared on a radio show with a conservative pastor who thinks gays and lesbians should be put to death.

He also praised Russia for their anti-LGBT beliefs and just a week ago, he gave his opinion on transgender rights:

"I oppose transgender rights. There is no right to believe you're a person of the opposite sex or opposite gender.”

The special election will take place on Tuesday, December 12.
