After a decade of serving the Hillcrest community with some of the tastiest treats in San Diego, the popular bakery Babycakes will be pulling up stakes and relocating to the Paradise Hills neighborhood in order to expand.

The Hillcrest location will remain open until the end of May 2018 with the new bakery opening sometime in June.

In a press release, the sweet treat eatery says they have outgrown their space on Fifth Avenue due to its overwhelming success. This new location will have four times the square footage and will be conveniently located near the intersection of the 805 and 54 freeways, at 2315 Reo Drive.

The confectioners are also planning on future storefronts in North County and East County. They say returning to Hillcrest in the future is not out of the question.

The Imperial Beach location remains popular and will not close.

In an effort to expand their product reach even further, Babycakes will increase their delivery options and begin shipping their baked goods.

Additionally, the brand hopes to make its way into restaurants, and local grocery stores.

Christopher Stavros, President of Babycakes, is excited about this new chapter for the business, but that also means changing with the times.

“As we move forward, our business model needs to evolve in order to keep pace with the rapidly changing industry, " he said in a statement."While there are many fabulous restaurants, bars, and coffee houses, we plan on focusing on one area that we excel at… our Award Winning Cupcakes and our Memorable Celebrations Cakes,”
