Homeless people are being blamed for much of the problem, unsanitary conditions and lack of personal hygiene help spread hepatitis A.

San Ysidro border closes to cars for 57 hours this weekend

San Ysidro border crossing will be closed to southbound car traffic over the weekend.

Freeway construction will close the San Ysidro border crossing to southbound vehicle traffic on Interstate 5 and Interstate 805 this weekend.

Starting on Saturday at 3 am and ending at noon on Monday, those trying to drive into Mexico will be detoured to the Otay Mesa border crossing on SR 905.

Homeless man dies from injuries after skateboard attack

A homeless man beaten by a skateboard was taken off life support and has died.

Arthur Angulo, a San Diego homeless man, has died as a result of injuries he received from being beaten by a skateboard on Saturday.

The incident happened at around 4:30 am in a North Park alley near the 2800 block of El Cajon Boulevard. Angulo was asleep when an assailant with no apparent motive beat the 55-year-old with a skateboard.

A Georgia Tech LGBT student was shot and killed by police

An independent inquiry into the death of Scout Shultz is currently underway.

Scout Schultz, an LGBT activist, and student was shot by police and later died from their injuries on Saturday, September 16, reports BBC News.

Scout Schultz was outside the campus dormitory in Atlanta when police responded to a call reporting there was, “a person with a knife and a gun.”

SD installs portable restrooms, handwashing stations to thwart hepatitis A

After an outbreak of hepatitis A, San Diego is doing its best to prevent any further infections.

One way they are combating the disease is to set up multiple portable restrooms, four were recently installed downtown near City Hall. They will be maintained at least twice per day and monitored by full-time security.

There is also a hand washing station on site.
