SAN DIEGO -- After being part of the Hale Media team for over a year and a half, Ken St. Pierre has accepted a position with Modern Luxury Media, to serve as an advertising representative for Riviera Magazine.
Since February 2010, St. Pierre has served as director of sales and business development for Hale Media, which publishes San Diego Gay & Lesbian News and San Diego Pix.
“Hale Media has been a fantastic company to be a part of and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working here," St. Pierre said of his departure. "I look forward to watching San Diego Gay & Lesbian News and SDPIX continue to expand and evolve over the years to come. “
Johnathan Hale, president and CEO of Hale Media, said St. Pierre has been instrumental in the growth of the company and knows that he will succeed in his new position.
“I will miss the energy and enthusiasm that Ken St. Pierre has brought to the Hale Media team, but I am very happy for him and I am supportive of my friend as he follows his dreams," Hale said.
Before joining the Hale Media team, St. Pierre worked for a number of years in the LGBT community, primarily in nonprofit development roles.
As the director of development for San Diego LGBT Pride, St. Pierre created the Ambassadors of Pride program, after working in a fundraising role at The San Diego LGBT Community Center. At The Center, St. Pierre worked on events like the Center's annual gala, Dining Out For Life, AIDS Walk San Diego and the annual Women's Night.
His creativity spurred a number of successful fundraising campaigns, programs and events, such as Pride's Milk Money campaign and a fundraiser for Servicemembers Legal Defense Network called Momentum on the Midway.
Having also worked as a real estate agent, St. Pierre's diverse set of experiences prepared him for the work he has done at Hale Media since joining the team.
Michael Blackwell, an experienced advertising representative who has been working with Hale Media for several months, will take over the role that St. Pierre has held.
“Michael Blackwell has been doing a superb job introducing SDPIX and SDGLN to the Palm Springs market," Hale said. "His experience, industry knowledge and solid work ethic will be an asset to our San Diego market as well.”
St. Pierre, who says that Hale is one of his dearest friends whom he will miss working with on a daily basis, is certain that SDGLN and SDPIX will continue to grow after his departure.
“I have every confidence that Johnathan Hale, Michael Blackwell and the rest of the Hale Media team will continue to take SDGLN and SDPIX to even greater heights," St. Pierre said. "They are a very talented and dedicated group of individuals.”
St. Pierre is not going far -- his new role will be based in San Diego.
