SAN DIEGO -- The Lambda Archives is inviting community members to visit its space this Saturday, Dec. 1, for an end-of-year open house.
After spending many years in a cramped office space, Lambda Archives opened a new exhibit space in August (see left photo). The new space gives community members greater access to the exhibits that the organization has collected, documenting San Diego's vibrant LGBT history.
The open house event will include exhibits, socializing and light refreshments.
Founded in 1987, the mission of the Lambda Archives of San Diego is to collect, preserve, and teach the history of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the San Diego and Northern Baja California region. Although most of the collections date to post-1970, there are original materials dating back to the 1930's.
The Lambda Archives office and exhibit space is located in the Diversionary Theatre building at 4545 Park Blvd. in University Heights.
The event begins at 1 pm.
