If you are you still trying to decide what type of Christmas card to send the out this holiday season, this may be the event for you. Bring your pooches and have their pictures taken with Santa, and meet adoptable Labradors that need a forever home.

Labrador Rescuers of San Diego is a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing stray, abandoned or unwanted Labrador Retrievers into loving and caring homes. The Golden Paw has also recently allotted overnight accommodations for some of Labrador Rescuers dogs in need of a place to stay before they go into a foster or forever home.

Photos of the dogs with Santa will be emailed directly to their owners after the event. Volunteers from the organization will also be on hand Saturday to answer any questions about the dogs currently in need of homes.

The Golden Paw opened the Bay Park location of The Golden Paw in 2001. With high demand, The Golden Paw Hillcrest opened in October with a day care and overnight camp for dogs. All the pampered pooches have come to expect a clean, safe environment with a secure indoor and outdoor play yards, scheduled grooming and training services and an attentive staff that makes every day something to bark about, the staff promises.

The Golden Paw’s ownership attributes the growth and success over the years to the doggy day care center’s proven methods for keeping dogs safe and happy while their owners are at work or traveling. Owners often are busy with their jobs and have little free time, but want to make sure their pets have the best care. At The Golden Paw, dogs can play and have fun, with the mission that every dog goes home happy.

Dogs that stay and play at The Golden Paw are grouped by age, activity and socialization levels and placed together in fenced play yards. The spacious overnight suites are used for meal times, night-time sleep and rest periods.

To ensure a safe a pleasant stay for all, dogs must be screened prior to their first day. This process includes an “evaluation” to assess temperament, social skills, and a review of health records to make sure vaccinations are current.
