Stonewall Citizens' Patrol to celebrate 8 years tonight

SAN DIEGO, California -- The Stonewall Citizens' Patrol will host "Keep Our Wheels Turning" this evening from 6-9 pm to celebration the organization's 8 years of service to the community. The event will be held at Gossip Grill.

An awards ceremony will be held, starting at 7:15 pm, to honor community members who have supported the organization of the years, including Nicole Murray-Ramirez, Bob Lehman, Tom Felkner, Dr. Delores Jacobs, Chris Shaw, Stephen Whitburn, Aaron Heier and Nicholas Moede.

Special guests who are scheduled to attend the event include San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis, Council President Todd Gloria, Police Chief Shelly Zimmerman, and representatives from the offices of California Assembly Speaker Toni G. Atkins and Congresswoman Susan Davis.

A red carpet with the Stonewall Citizens' Patrol vehicle will begin at 6 pm and continue through the evening, and complimentary appetizers be served. Donations will be accepted to support the continued community safety work of the patrol.

Gossip Grill is located at 1220 University Ave. in Hillcrest.

About Stonewall Citizens' Patrol

The Stonewall Citizens’ Patrol is a volunteer neighborhood crime patrol group operating in the highly diverse Hillcrest, North Park and University Heights areas of San Diego. With over 30 volunteers armed with training from the San Diego Police Department, take turns patrolling the streets. In addition to patrolling, the organization focuses on crime awareness and crime prevention which includes distributing safety kits, crime prevention posters and safety tip cards.
