Many in the local LGBT community were shocked to learn yesterday that activist Will Walters was found dead in his Hillcrest apartment. Walters had been engaged in a legal battle with the San Diego Police Department and San Diego Pride over his attire at the 2011 festival.

Also, a San Diego high school band teacher plead guilty to having sex with a student.

Other local news includes: More parking meters may be coming to areas of Hillcrest and Mission Hills; and another minimum wage increase for San Diego begins on Jan. 1.

A transgender boy was barred from a Boy Scout troop in New Jersey.

Watch what you say! Siri and Alexa could become witnesses against you in court some day.

Other national news includes: Paper delivery employee says her company may be withholding her tips; a federal court rules police may shoot dogs if they move or bark; and JFK's great-nephew comes to defense of a gay friend, resulting in a brawl and arrest.

CAUSES

San Diego shelters will house extra homeless during the weekend storm.

ENTERTAINMENT

2016 has seen an unprecedented amount of high-profile celebrity deaths (an artist created a visual obituary). The world lost singer George Michael on Christmas Day. He died at the age of 53. All 5 "Freedom! '90" supermodels pay tribute.

Two days later, legendary actress Carrie Fisher died at the age of 60. San Diego's own Chad Michaels shares his memories of Fisher.

The following day, Fisher's mother, the legendary Debbie Reynolds, was hospitalized. Reynolds died later that day at the age of 84, just one day after her daughter's death.

Britney Spears is confirmed still alive; and Madonna has a message for worried fans.
