As summer comes to a close, remember the pride and unity within the community that filled the streets in July.
With the current state of divisive politics which seems to have the community turning on itself, it’s nice to look back at the time when opinions were mostly forgotten and Pride reigned supreme.
That day, for San Diego, was July 15, 2017, when 200,000 people lined the streets to celebrate diversity, unity and all letters of the Pride acronym.
A record-breaking amount of allies and contingents showed their true rainbow colors filling the streets with fun, excitement and most of all love.
As 2017 is nearly at its end, we are reminded of the work that still needs to be done in the community to make it stronger despite attempts to weaken its fortitude.
We are also reminded to celebrate our differences, but through that, remember what ultimately makes us the same.
