The time-honored award symbolizes people who do great things for the LGBT community in San Diego.

Every year the Nicky Awards honor people in San Diego who have given their time and effort to positively affect the LGBT community.
Now in its 42nd year, the "Nicky" has become a coveted prize recognizing philanthropy, owning inclusive businesses or just being a positive personality who gives back to the community.
"By showcasing excellence in the community, the Nicky Awards serve as proof that every person has something important to contribute, that each of us can make a difference," said Governor Gray Davis in the past. "This celebration is a tribute to the men and woman of San Diego's LGBT community who work hard to improve the quality of life for all."
Winners will be announced on December 3 at the 42nd Annual Nicky Awards Show that will include outstanding entertainment, hor d'oeuvres, VIP seating, a happy hour, and other surprises.
